The Bard joins Conway Stewart’s lineup as a commanding new flagship model. Conway Stewart's 'Bard' is inspired by writers and poets who have produced enduring and well loved works which have enriched the cultural fabric of modern day society. The most famous poet and writer of his generation, William Shakespeare was known simply as 'The Bard', though the term Bard was traditionally used to describe professional poets who were paid to by their Monarch to praise the sovereign's activities. Other famous Bards include William Wordsworth and Robert Burns. The Bard features an untapered cap and barrel, with a squared off profile. A look of sturdy elegance defines the Bards appearance, giving lovers of the outsized in writing instruments a new choice. The section is thinner, allowing for an easy grip without interfering with the Bard’s distinctive look and size. The barrel end is also reduced in size, which makes posting the cap simple and secure. The Bard is available in a choice of four classic colours, Jet Black with polished silver trim, classic Marbled Green, the elegant new Rioja, and vibrant Scarlet Whirl. A pair of solid hallmarked 18 carat gold bands on the barrel set off the 18 carat solid gold nib, with the clip mounted high on the cap. While a substantial in size, the Bard is still a very usable thanks to the carefully thought out design. The high mounted clip allows the pen to sit low in the pocket. The rebated section design makes for a pen that is suitable for a wide range of hand sizes. The nib is offered in eight nib grades from Extra Fine through Double Broad, as well as three Italic sizes. Filling is via the reliable cartridge converter system, which allows either the convenience of handy ink cartridges or the rich choice of bottled inks.
