This typically late 1920s to early 1930s pen still has
beautiful colour with
no noticeable darkening that you usually find. It is in
excellent condition with no damage at all that I can see. The
cap and barrel are glossy with no noticeable scratches or other
blemishes and the gold filled trim is all bright and shiny with no
brassing or wear. The cap end is tapered with a gold filled boss
and gold filled chatelaine / watch chain ring. Just below this is
the Conklin trademark golden crescent. Below the
crescent and near the cap lip ar etwo gold filled bands. The
barrel has an excellent
crisp and sharp imprint, and opposite that the stumpy little filling
lever bears a patent date of 1925. It has a circular end tab with the
Conklin crescent symbol imprinted. The nib is a shiny and
undamaged Conklin Endura in 14 carat gold with a crescent-shaped
breather hole.
I have fully serviced this pen. It fills
nicely, and holds more ink than it looks. The nib is very
smooth in action. It is an extra-fine point and has slight softness
which will produce a tiny bit of understated line width variation with a
little extra writing pressure.
I very rarely get Conklins, and this one is a real
beauty.
