CS239: Conway Stewart No. 54 Pencil.

Date: c1970

Size: Length - 4 7/16 inches.

The No. 54 pencil was paired with the matching Dinkie No. 570 fountain pen.  It could also be purchased on its own.  This one is in near-pristine condition still with no damage on it that I can see apart from some very minor wear to the gold plated cone.  This is visible when using a loupe but is hardly noticeable without.  The Lumina green colour shimmers and changes in the light, and the whole thing is semi-translucent.  The cap has a small conical gold plated top button that holds on the gold plated pocket clip that has the usual Conway Stewart diamond at the end.   There is a single gold plated cap band below the pocket clip.  This is a propel - repel pencil that works by twisting the gold plated cone.  It accepts 1.1mm leads, and I have installed a fresh one into the mechanism, so the pencil is ready for immediate use.  The cap unscrews, and in the end is an unused white eraser.  Below this are a few spare 1.1mm leads.  The imprint is still crisp and easily made out.

I have fully serviced this pencil.  It works perfectly.
