DP004: Diamond Point Fill E-Z.
Date: c1920s
Size: Capped - 4 1/4 inches; Posted
- 5 1/2 inches.
An unuusal early Diamond Point ringtop pen. This pen is in
excellent condition - the only thing wrong that I can see is the
brassing to the chatelaine ring at the top of the cap, and a very
slight darkening of the celluloid on the cap, mainly at the lip.
The pen is, however, in overall excellent condition. I have
fitted a silicone ink sac in this
pen, which does not have that affect and should prevent it from
discolouring further. The flat-topped cap has a chatelaine /
watch chain ing at the top and a wide gold filled band near the lip.
The barrel has a good clear and deep imprint, with a short gold
filled filling lever. This has a large circular end tab with the
"D" within a diamond logo impressed. The nib is marked "Warranted
14K" with a number 2 imprinted
below.
I have fully serviced this pen. The nib writes
very smoothly and is quite soft. It produces
some very attractive line width variation from an extra-fine to a good medium
width with little effort on the part of the writer. A classic 1920s design.
