Pens for Sale

HE012: Hero No. 241, boxed.

Date: c1970s

Size: Length - 5 1/2 inches capped; 6 1/2 inches posted.

A new old-stock Hero pen from China.  This pen has never been inked or used, and it is damage-free.  Supplied still in its original cellophane wrapping and original box, this pen has been stuck in a time-warp for the last 30-odd years.  Loosely styled on the Parker 75, this is one of many different models of hooded nib pens that Hero have made over the years.  Excellent value for money as always, and well made, the 241 has a gold plated cap and resin barrel with a "beaked" gold plated nib.   is the pen that really launched the Hero pen company.   The cap has and incised vertical line decoration and a self-coloured top button / jewel.  The pocket clip is imprinted "HERO", and the model number, "241" is imprinted around the cap lip.  The barrel has a gold plated band near the end and unscrews to reveal an Aerometric style filling system.  There is a very thin metal clutch ring, and the nib is gold plated with an iridium point.  The nib is a fine point.  Like the Parker 75, this pen has a metal collar at the end of the section just behind the nib.

I did just dip the nib to get the writing sample below.  It feels very smooth despite its fineness and writes with a good wet and fine line.   These Hero pens really are excellent writers - better than some pens many times their cost.
