PA472 Parker 45 Classic, boxed.
Date: c1970s
Size: Capped - 5 7/16 inches; posted - 5 13/16 inches.
The 45 was Parker's first cartridge pen in 1960. The 45 series are robust pens and good writers, laying down nice wet lines. This pen is burgundy red in colour and is in almost pristine condition. There are no scratches, cracks, splits or chips. I don't think it has been used much, if at all in the past, and I have just dipped the nib to get the writing sample below. It has a gold plated top button, with a gold
plated Parker arrow pocket clip. The body of the cap is made
from a very delicately frosted Lustraloy. There are no
noticeable scratches on the frosting, and no dings either. The
barrel unscrews and this pen is still fitted with its original squeeze-bar
ink converter. I have tested it and it still performs very
well with no damage at all. The box is the original brown plastic presentation case with the flocked lid top and flocked beige pad.
The
nib is made from Octanium alloy and is in a medium point.
I have fully serviced this pen. It writes very well, producing
an extremely smooth, wet line that is on the fine side of medium.
